Abstract:The legend that “Jinling Yishengtang is the most famous bookshop in Ming Dynasty” has many doubtful points. Consequently it can be thought that the old saying of LiYu being just the cooperator of the Yishengtang may not be the truth. LiYu’s book Prime Minister Wei Zhenan has proved that LiYu employed people to carve books for years. “Those people who ran a bookshop were always so poor that even the thief wouldn’t come to burgle” is LiYu’s motto (“bookshop” actually refers to “stacks”).The information, like LiYu’s article The Inspiration from Essay Collection which is the first chapter of Renovation, has already proved that “Yishengtang” was just the name of LiYu’s bookshop after he moved to Jinling. LiYu was the master of the Jinling Yishengtang bookshop.
