Abstract:The Poetry of the Sacred Relics is the only collection published by Yang Zhongxi, a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. Its features, such as the great and small things of “narrative poetry”, the melancholy and calm of “changing wind and elegance”, the “gentle and earnest teaching and the three ways of promoting the opinions of the masses, the complaints of the father, the affairs of the emperor”, and the chronology style, highlight the general changes in the tradition of poetry history in modern times. It is related to and referential to the main trends of modern classical poetics such as “poetry supplement history” and “re-advocating poetry teaching”, and it has become the epitome of classical poetics trying to self-adjust, striving to continue tradition and having certain new changes in the big scene of the transformation of the Times. It has relatively important cognitive value, document value and poetic history significance.
