Abstract:Local spaces such as “internet-famous cities” or “internet-famous scenic spots” have become a unique media landscape. As objects that were traditionally gazed at, constructed, and manipulated in society, local spaces are now gaining a certain degree of subjectivity. In the era of social media, local actors empowered by digital technology have woven a “seamless web” to connect and communicate with society, constructing locally-dominated forms of communication that present local characteristics, create socially shared spaces, and enhance local visibility. As a result, local spaces composed of local actors present unique spiritual attributes, thinking abilities, and action capabilities through social media platforms, and reconstruct the structure of local spaces.
